Week 9 ~ Calgary Public Art

Family of Horses, in Municipal Plaza

This family of life-sized horses has been grazing at Municipal Plaza (City Hall) since 1989. The bronze artwork by Calgary-area artist Harry O'Hanlon was the result of a civic competition. It was paid for by Marg Southern, the president and co-chairman of Spruce Meadows, Calgary's world-class equestrian centre.

"A horse is the projection of peoples' dreams about themselves — strong, powerful, beautiful — and it has the capability of giving us escape from our mundane existence.

Week 8 ~ Graveyard Beauty

At first I saw
A mass of crosses and lichen stained Angels
Lambs and tombstones

It was an old burial ground
And walking it took all afternoon
It was quiet, warm and the drone of insects
turned it into a sleepy haven

I stood and read the epitaphs And sadly realized how young they died
I stood where mourners wept and the sad caskets were lowered
The quiet and the simplicity of death -
It washed over me
And I found peace at last.

Week 7 ~ Montreal

Ok, so I really can't decide this week what image I want to use. Montreal has a million images in it and I didn't even scratch the surface, really. I could of spent days in Old Montreal shooting. City is much bigger than I thought it was!! Well, that is what travel is all about ... learning about new places. I decided to use the bikes that I photographed my first day in Montreal. It didn't take long before this rack was empty.

I really didn't theme this weeks 52 Weeks of Grey partly because I know I was going to be seeing and doing so much.  And partly because I couldn't make a decision, hehehe 😀
